What are signs?. They are the apparent divisions of the Zodiac which is the Sun's path over a year. There are 12 divisions called signs. The divisions of the Zodiac based on the Moon's orbit are called Constellations. One should not confuse oneself with the Western concept of the Signs.
The Vedic Zodiac is called Nirayana and the Western zodiac is named Sayana. A detailed explanation is beyond the scope of this lesson and will be discussed later.
